Veon App Launched by Veon Parent Company Jazz tackle to Whatsapp FB Global telecom operator VEON Parent Company of Jazz said on Wednesday it was making progress in its strategy to reinvent itself as an online player by introducing its messaging and mobile services app in four new markets, including its largest in Russia and Pakistan.
The messaging app, which is designed to compete with the likes of Facebook Inc’s WhatsApp and Rakuten Inc’s Viber, offers free services to customers via its mobile network without users incurring data charges as other apps do.
Last year when Jazz (formerly Mobilink) claimed that it was in competition with Facebook, Whatsapp, Amazon etc., people took it as just another corporate statement but it appears that its parent group, VEON, was serious.
VEON is the first platform offering users access to such a comprehensive range of services in a single, standalone mobile environment. It enables users to:
Catch up with messaging and calls — in private or in a group.
Stay in touch with photos, videos, audio messages and more. They can even share their location, making it easy to meet up.
Get the news, music and video that matter to them — with fully personalised daily recommendations.
VEON network customers can link their mobile account to manage their plan, check their remaining credit and allowances, and top-up instantly.
Save Time and Money:
Do all this in a single app — for free.
Launch: Currently the app is in beta phase and available on Play Store for early adopters. We anticipate that the app will be formally launched sometime in September 2017.
Download: In case you want to test the early version, go ahead and download it from Play Store from here.

Amsterdam-based VEON is working to overhaul its classic mobile phone business by offering free or low cost services. It ranks among the world’s 10 largest communications network operators, with around 235 million customer in 13 countries.
