Khansa Maria, a student of Georgetown University’s Qatar Campus, has been selected as a ‘Rhode’ Scholar from Pakistan for the fall of 2021 at Oxford University.

According to Voice of America, Khansa Maria is blind. She had faced many problems due to blindness while studying in Pakistan, so the idea of ​​being able to do something for the physically challenged is very close to his heart.

Khansa Maria will do her Masters from Oxford University under the Rhode Scholarship. Her master’s degree will be in the field of policymaking and social assessment. She considers this scholarship an honor for her.

“I am physically weak, blind, and I have the experience of living in a society where everyone’s needs are not taken care of,” Khansa said. It is my responsibility to do my best to improve the conditions of my community or at least to do something for people with physical disabilities like myself in the future through my experiences and abilities. ”

But she says many places are still inaccessible to people with disabilities, and communication and language techniques are not perfect for people with disabilities.

Khansa Maria has also worked at the US Embassy in Qatar. In addition to her bachelor’s degree in foreign service from Georgetown University’s Qatar campus, she also participates in the activities of the university’s debating society, South Asian society, leadership pathways, and other organizations.
