WoW Women Wheels |Punjab govt launches motorbike subsidy scheme for women. We hope the fathers and mothers of girls will look at them and say ”Yes” women can. Govt Of The Punjab launched a new program for Females with Punjab Domicile “Women on Wheels”
Women (Students, Employed or business owners) with 18 to 40 years of ages will be given customized motorbikes on subsidized rates. In first phase, only Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sargodha & Faisalabad permanent or temporary resident women will be given the bikes on subsidized rates
- Remember that these bikes are NOT Free, but are on subsidized rates .
- Punjab Police will give Free bike driving trainings.
- Over 3000 subsidized motorbike to be distributed among women.
- Candidates can apply for the campaign starting from January 22 until February 25.
The applicant or applicant’s caretaker’s monthly salary must not be more than 30,000 Rs per month.
Female immobility is a major hurdle towards women empowerment in Pakistan. It is a pushing factor in widening the economic gap and increasing gender inequality. SRU introduced the Women-on-Wheels – WoW – campaign to empower women by providing them with the necessary skill-set and the means to increase their mobility and independence through the provision of free motorcycle lessons.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the WoW campaign is to demonstrate that women have an equal right and access to public spaces as men. Furthermore, through WoW, the Government of Punjab aims to change mindsets and serves to create awareness regarding street violence and harassment that millions of Pakistani women face when they step out of their homes.
WOW SUBSIDIZED MOTORCYCLE SCHEME:
As a further step, the campaign will provide subsidized customized motorbikes for the Women-on-Wheels graduates through an open balloting mechanism. The WoW initiative has provided free motorcycle trainings to over 3000 women across the socio-economic spectrum.
WHO CAN APPLY:
Following females can apply for the Chief Minister’s Strategic Reforms Unit’s WOW Motorbike Scheme:
1) Age between 18 to 40 years.
2) Having a Valid CNIC
3) Having a Valid Motorcycle driving license / Learners License at the time of application
4) Domiciled in Punjab, (self) employed or studying in any of the following five cities: Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha and Rawalpindi
5) Income of Applicant should not exceed Rs. 30,000. In case applicant is student Maximum Monthly income of guardian/household does not exceed Rs. 30,000
6) Secondary School Certificate / Matriculation
7) In case of Student, express Consent of Parent / Guardian on application form with one Guarantor, where Guarantor can be either a parent or guardian.
APPLICANTS TO SUBMIT:
Complete Application Form with One Photograph, Valid CNIC, Punjab Domicile Certificate, Secondary School Certificate, Salary Certificate, and in case of Student an Affidavit stating that Maximum Income does not exceed 30,000 and Rs. 3000 nonrefundable fee.
Last Date for Submission of Applications is: 25th February 2018
Interested Applicants who have not taken the WOW motorbike trainings can avail free trainings by Punjab Government through trained Punjab Police Staff at following locations:
Lahore: 1122 Training Facility, Shamma Chowk, Ferozepur Road
Faisalabad: University of Agriculture, Faisalabad
Multan: Mela Ground, Fish Market, Dolat Gate Chowk
Sargodha: Police Lines Ground, Sargodha
Rawalpindi: F9 Park
