We usually see stereotypical representation of women in our movies. However, in Parchi (as seen in the trailer), Farooq is essaying the role of a ‘gangster’ which is unconventional, particularly for female actors. And that is a step in the right direction. The trailer opens with all the five characters riding in a car where Farooq, who plays the part of Eman, is instructing the rest of the gang, as they head to rob Zodiac, essayed by Cheema. Going by the trailer, Parchi looks very much like an action-comedy film.
According to the makers of the film, the story revolves around the ‘parchi’ system in Pakistan – local gangsters issuing parchi to businesses to ask them for money. The sensitive topic has been touched without any serious undertones so that people can understand and enjoy the movie.
Parchi (پرچی) is an upcoming 2018 Pakistani action-comedy film which is directed by Azfar Jafri and is produced by Imran Raza Kazmi & Arif Lakhani and Hareem Farooq who also appears in the film as the female lead. The film’s script has been written by Shafqat Khan, the dance chorography has been done by Osman Khalid Butt. Parchi stars Ahmed Ali Akbar, Ali Rehman Khan and Usman Mukhtar in lead roles, and is being produced under producer Imran Raza’s IRK Films banner. Shafqat Cheema plays as an antagonist in the film. The film is being produced in association with ARY Films; ARY Films will also distribute the film as well.
